As of Friday April 22nd. Zocalo Imports (One of our best selling lines) has decided to end their relationship with us. This has come to us as a huge surprise considering our volume has increased by over 400% the past (4) four months. We have been working with Zocalo Imports for over (6) six years now and have had no problems with them directly! However, during these years of business we have had problems with their shipping companies & their Sales Rep... As far as the shipping issues - we have received orders that were damaged, shipments that were short (missing items), and deliveries that were late (set for a Tuesday but showed up on Friday). We solved that problem by employing our own trucks and drivers to Will-Call the items. Now for their Sales Rep, first off we haven't seen "him" in the past two years! Our catalog at our showroom, in San Jose, Ca., hasn't been updated for two years. Keep in mind we've been getting our updates off Zocalo's web site and by calling them directly. On Thursday April 21st. we got a phone call from our Sales Rep. He asked if the owner (Mike) was available. He was told that Mike was out of the office today but would be here the next day. He then came by the store on Friday the 22nd. and basically said "I'm not going to sell you Zocalo Furniture anymore"! Mike (the owner of the store) asked, "why after six years of business would you stop selling us Zocalo's Furniture"? And the reason was... NONE! He didn't and wouldn't say why and left the store. After several phone calls to Zocalo Imports Sales Manager we were told that the Sales Rep. could decide who can buy Zocalo Imports Furniture Collections and who could not! (Who's running this company)? We're confused, Zocalo Imports gets paid directly by us upon pick-up of their items, and the Sales Rep. gets his commission for every item we buy from them. Normally the Sales Rep. would only get a commission from sales in his territory, but we sell these items all over the United States. So he is actually getting paid more than usual. After thinking about this for awhile we can only guess why he would not want to get paid for doing nothing. Either one or more of his accounts has given him an ultimatum, that if he sells to us, they will no longer buy from him. So, he must be afraid of losing income from another account. After checking our records we have sold a total of (12) twelve orders in his territory the past four months and (47) forty seven that are not in his territory. (In-fact their not even in the state of California). It is our opinion that their Sales Rep. has no concern about the actual consumer. It comes down to MONEY! We look at it this way, when you order a large French fries and you get 99% French fries and 1% Curly fries, that's us, the curly fry. Small potatoes if you ask us! The only real loser here is you, the hard-working consumer. It's dealers like us and consumers like you that pay his salary... I guess Free Trade is no longer a part of the American way... (As of Sunday August 15th. 2005, We Have Still Not Received A Formal Notice From Zocalo Imports That They Won't Sell Furniture To Us. We Still Have Furniture Samples From Them On Our Floor & In Our Warehouse! They Haven't Asked For Their Catalog Back Or Given Us A Reason Why We Can't Buy Furniture From Them! We Also Have Several Orders That Haven't Been Completed & We've Placed Several Orders By Fax And No Confirmations Have Been Sent Back To Us)! I Guess They Figure If They Ignore Us We Will Just Go Away! This is not the end of this, as our lawyer is currently reviewing our position. We have always tried to give everyone the best possible price on their furniture selection, unfortunately Zocalo Imports may no longer be an option.
